Aspects for the week beginning 9 July 2017
Wimbledon 2017 – Week 2
The first week of Wimbledon produced some great tennis (a highlight being Andy Murray’s match with Fognini), and a few upsets. The first four men’s seeds are still standing, but No. 5 seed Stan Wawrinka went out in the first round. Petra Kvitova and Karolina Pliskova went out of the women’s tournament. Here are the next seeds, coming up (again, I will be adding content under comments throughout the week, as there are still players I would like to cover):
Ladies Singles
Caroline Wozniacki – No. 5 Seed
This is from 2015:
“Caroline Wozniacki has 7 out of her 10 planets in Cardinal signs, so is a natural leader. She has a natural system of checks and balances within her psyche, with a triple conjunction of Chiron/Sun/Jupiter in Cancer opposite her Saturn in Capricorn. Her Mercury squares Mars, so she can get irritable or suffer from frayed nerves. Her Sun/Chiron conjunction is exact, so she may have some healing talent.”
In the middle of Wimbledon 2017 Wozniacki has a Solar Return (her birthday is on Tuesday 11th July) and the Sun on her healing Chiron, which is a minor boost. Mercury is on her South Node, which may pull her back into old patterns. Uranus squares her Mercury, also producing mental strain. In addition, Uranus transits her natal Mars, putting her in danger of injury. Neptune trines her Pluto, so she maintain her serenity in the face of much stress. But Pluto opposes her Sun/Chiron. The Mars and Pluto transits are similar to those of Klizan in week 1, who was forced to withdraw from his match with Djokovic due to a left calf injury.
At the time of the final of Wimbledon she has lost the more personal transits, but Uranus still causes mental strain on her Mercury, still transits her Mars (incident prone), still opposes her Sun/Chiron. Caroline will need great strength if she wants to reach the final.
She has just played a tough 3 set match with Kontaveit, and now faces Coco Vandeweghe (No. 24) in the next round. In their synastry,Vendeweghe’s Pluto trines Wozniacki’s Jupiter, so they can bring out the best in each other and produce a good match. Coco’s Jupiter also trines Wozniacki’s Neptune, which also brings out good play in each other. The play has depth and complexity, with Coco’s Uranus conjunct Caroline’s Neptune and Caroline’s Pluto sextile Coco’s Neptune.
Coco is an outrageously outright Sagittarian, with Mars, the Sun, the Moon (a New Moon) and Mercury in that sign. The strength of a New Mooner is the ability to always start afresh, and that can be in the middle of a match! Her Sun squares her Jupiter, so she could be relentlessly optimistic, sometimes unrealistically so. Her Mercury is square to Jupiter, so she may not always be able to focus, and sometimes overstretches herself. Mars sextiles Saturn, which is nicely controlled in action. Her ruling planet Jupiter is trine closely Uranus/Neptune, making her enterprising and giving her the capacity to surprise, as well as great faith in herself and in the force being with her. Jupiter also trines her North Node, adding luck and extra good karma. Uranus is closely conjunct her North Node, and surprise is the game of her karmic mission. What a live wire of a chart she has!
Transits for Coco on Monday: Mars opposite her Venus could make her accident-prone in a very minor way (scrapes and bruises). Jupiter squares her Neptune, making her a little more confused than usual, and Neptune opposes her Jupiter returning the compliment and increasing the confusion. Not a good line up of transits. This gives Caroline Wozniacki the edge in tomorrow’s match
For the end of Wimbledon, Jupiter is still square her Neptune, but Neptune is square her natal Sun in addition, adding to the confusion, and Neptune is still opposite her Jupiter which does not show an improved picture at all. I therefore do not think Coco will be a finalist.
Johanna Konta – No. 6 Seed
I have not looked at Johanna’s chart before. It is the first time she has made it into the second week of Wimbledon. She’s a very enjoyable player to watch, pulling off some sublime strokes at times. Her debut at Wimbledon was even in doubt, as she sustained a spinal injury last week, but showed from her play at the outset that she was not unduly affected. She is a stolid Taurean, with an interesting exact conjunction of Mars and Chiron in Cancer, which may be one of the secrets of her success. It may enable her to assess physical energy very quickly and make adjustments while playing. This conjunction can have a painful side, but was not involved in her injury the week before Wimbledon.
Johanna certainly has the energy to push through her goals, with Mars exactly sextile her Sun. Mars also trines her North Node, so she is able to use this energy in her karmic mission, and Mars sextiles closely her Chiron (self-healing may be a strength). Mercury squares her Mars, so she has an irritable side. And to top up a long list of Mars aspects, Pluto trines Mars, so she has a formidable storehouse of energy at her disposal when she needs it, for a long 3-set match for instance. This strong Mars may well come from warrior training in past lives, for Mars itself is on her South Node, together with Chiron, suggesting a warrior lineage which incorporates healing (such as some of the oriental disciplines).
If she has a weakness, it’s Jupiter exactly opposite Saturn, which can sometimes make it difficult for her to make decisions, or presents life dilemmas which are hard to reconcile. She also has the complex Uranus/Neptune conjunction in Capricorn of the early 1990s which can be difficult, but can also make it possible to process complex systems of thought.
The Guardian describes Konta’s attitude to life: “She is uniquely focussed, a quality that can often make her seem cold and robotic in public. But it helps her to stay in the moment, which is how she prefers it. She does not worry too much about the future.”
In the middle of Wimbledon, Mars sextiles her Sun, adding strength and energy to her portfolio. Uranus is on her Mercury (a factor which was involved in her recent injury), which is not easy but does add to her intuition. She has a Mars Return (more energy!), Neptune sextile her Uranus (more intuition!), and Pluto sextile her Pluto (a factor which was involved in her recent rapid healing) adding psychological strength. That is looking good for her at the start of this week.
At the end of Wimbledon, Mars squares her Mercury so mentally she may be a little more brittle. Some of the high energy transits have trailed away. She still has Neptune sextile her Uranus and Pluto sextile her Pluto, but that, I do not think, is enough to get her into the final.
Konta plays Caroline Garcia on Monday. Here is another player whose chart I haven’t seen before. Interestingly, she has 0 Fire planets, and 0 Mutable planets,5 Fixed and 5 Cardinal. Her Sun is in Libra and conjunct closely Jupiter, so she may have a lucky touch. Her Sun is also exactly trine Saturn, with Saturn exactly trine Jupiter, so she has good and balanced judgement. Her Capricorn Uranus/Neptune conjunction is exact, and Mars is exactly sextile this conjunction, so she can use this understanding of complexity in her physical prowess. Her chart is not without difficulties, as she has an exact square between the two difficult planets Saturn and Pluto. So there is a lot of contrast in her chart and psyche. She also has Chiron exactly square the Nodal Axis. Quite an extraordinary chart. I haven’t seen her play yet, but that looks like an interesting experience.
In her synastry with Konta, Konta’s Mars/Chiron squares her Sun, so Konta could have her rattled. Konta’s Uranus sextiles her Mars, producing electricity between them, and possibly exciting matches stemming from that. Garcia’s Saturn squares Konta’s Sun, which can dampen Konta’s game (though not so much this week, as Konta has heightened energy). Her Uranus/Neptune conjunction sextiles Konta’s Pluto (they understand each other on a generational level). But while Garcia’s Pluto trines Konta’s Mars (heightening her energy) it also opposes Konta’s Sun, which gives Garcia sometimes a psychological advantage. It could be a tough match for Konta.
At the centre point of Wimbledon, Mars squares Garcia’s Sun, which could make her incident-prone, but Saturn sextiles her Sun which is steadying. Pluto sextiles her Mercury, so she will be in good condition mentally and psychologically. Neptune trines her Mars, so she is sensitively in tune with her body and soul. Pluto conjuncts her Uranus/Neptune, which is possibly a hazard, and Mars trines her Pluto, lending her an extra helping of energy. At the end of Wimbledon, similar conditions apply for Garcia, plus a nervy square of Mercury to her natal Mercury: a finer point which could tip the balance towards Konta.
I think Konta has the extra push from the Universe tomorrow, and could make the next round.
Svetlana Kuznetsova – No. 7 Seed
I am looking at another chart freshly here. Kuznetsova has an emotional Sun/Mars in Cancer, with Mercury also in that sign, and half (5) of her planets in Water signs if the Moon is in Scorpio (it may be just in Libra). Her Moon may also be conjunct Pluto, adding an extra weight of emotion. Her Sun trine Pluto gives her psychological power. Mercury trine Saturn helps her concentration, but Pluto squaring her Mercury means that at times her deeper emotions can overwhelm her mental processes. Jupiter trines her natal Uranus, so she can be enterprising and opportunistic. But Jupiter squares the Nodal Axis exactly, so there are issues of overconfidence stemming from past lives.
At the mid point of Wimbledon, Jupiter sextiles her Uranus, which is favourable, though there are few other supporting transits. By the very end of Wimbledon though, this favourable transit is at its peak. She could be blessed with a place in the final!
She plays Agnieszka Radwanska next, on Monday.
Agnieszka Radwanska – No. 9 Seed
I wrote in 2014:
“She has a bouncy, enthusiastic and energetic conjunction of Mars and Jupiter in her chart, which is useful in a sporting life. But Agnieszka has a natally depressive exact conjunction of Saturn and Neptune…” She may therefore have contrasting moods – she certainly varies her shots skilfully.
At the mid point of Wimbledon , the Nodal Axis squares her Mars, not so good for looking after the physical body. But Chiron sextiles her natal Jupiter, so there are some positive vibes and healings going on for her.
By the end of Wimbledon, the Chiron sextile to Jupiter becomes exact, and that is a good sign for her. Mars sextile her Mars, so it has left the square with her Nodal Axis and her energy is at a peak. Therefore if she gets through the next round, her prospects improve, and could put her on the way to a place in the final. She probably has an equal chance of winning as does Kuznetsova, but they meet on Monday.
Their synastry shows Kuznetsova’s Uranus square Radwanska’s Sun (so Kuznetsova can surprise Radwanska). Kuznesova’s North Node is sextile Radwanska’s Sun, so there is a karmic knowing of each other. Radwanska’s Saturn opposes Kuznetsova’s Mars, so Radwanska can slow down her progress. Radwanska’s Uranus opposes Kuznetsova’s Sun (so she can surprise her back!). That can make for some lively interplay between them! Radwanska’s Neptune opposes Kuznetsova’s Mars, so Radwanska can overwhelm her. And, last but not least, Radwanska’s Pluto sits on Kuznetsova’s South Node. Radwanska can often have the final say, and that is another karmic feature of their synastry. Thus says the astrology, but in previous meetings Kuznetsova has often had the upper hand.
They seem evenly matched, but if I have to choose for this match I will go for Agnieszka Radwanska.
Men’s Singles
Milos Raonic – No. 6 Seed
Milos Raonic was one of three top players knocked out on the first day at Queen’s (with Murray and Wawrinka). Recycling my evaluation of his chart from 2014:
“Milos has 5 planets plus the North Node in the sign of Capricorn- a steadfast line up for a tennis player. His Venus is exactly trine Pluto, giving him a strong presence on and off the court. Mars trines his North Node closely, so it is important for him to attain and sustain a peak fitness. His serve is highly praised in the tennis world, and that may be a product of his Mars-North Node trine. “
At the mid point of Wimbledon: Uranus trines his Mercury, producing original and surprising work on the tennis court, and a heightened intuition. Neptune sextiles his own Neptune, centring him spiritually, but curiously Jupiter also squares his Neptune which may make him over-confident in some respects.
At the end of Wimbledon, he still has the skills of Uranus trine his Mercury, added to which are the physical prowess and energy of Mars sextile his Mars, so he could be at peak condition. Neptune still sextiles his Neptune, but he has lost that slightly overbalancing Jupiter square to his Neptune. These are good transits for him for the end of Wimbledon, and may see him into the final. They are not better though, I do not think, than Federer or Thiem’s final transits.
Raoinic plays Alexander Zverev (Seed No. 10) on Monday. Alexander Zverev is the brother of Mikhail, who was just beaten by Federer. In his synastry with Raonic shows Zverev has Mercury trine Raonic’s Neptune, the ability to tune into each other’s game. Zverev has Saturn on Raonic’s Uranus, which can cause some disruptive play between them, and Raonic’s Chiron opposes Zverev’s Saturn, increasing that tendency.
Zverev is a new (to me) kid on the block, with a wilder hairstyle than average (from his photos, unless he has just tamed it). His Sun is right at the beginning of Taurus, and he has 0 Water planets (so may not be so emotional) and half his planets in Earth so is practical. He is sensitive, though, with Neptune exactly square his Sun, and Chiron exactly opposite his Sun. He has Mercury conjunct Venus, which may give him writing or diplomatic abilities. With Mercury exactly square Uranus, he is not afraid to be controversial. Mars appears unaspected in a chart without a birth time, so his energies may be as wild and free as his hair. Neptune trines his North Node, so he has a spiritual side. With Neptune square his Chiron he may be impossibly idealistic (as well as practical). An intriguing young man.
At the middle of Wimbledon: Chiron steadies his Neptune with a trine, necessary because his natal Neptune is a bit too out there. But that is not a particularly strong showing, astrologically. By the end of the week, Pluto trines his Mars, giving him extra strength, energy and depth, which he would need if he were to make the final push. This doesn’t seem strong enough for the final, but may get him to the semi-final at best.
I believe that Raonic has the stronger astrological showing in this tournament.
Marin Cilic – No. 7 Seed
From 2015:
“Marin Cilic has a very challenging natal chart, containing a Grand Cross in Earth signs, composed of Neptune opposite Chiron and Mars opposite the Sun. He could struggle at times, especially when a transiting planet is crossing one of those four points. With Saturn conjunct exactly Uranus, he can sometimes be subject to earthquakes in his life, psychologically at least. He has chosen a difficult path, but would have the character to match. There is a modicum of luck, with Sun exactly trine Jupiter, and great enthusiasm (Mars exactly sextile Jupiter). Mercury is also exactly sextile Uranus (mental brilliance), so he could be a master of precision with all those precise aspects!”
At the mid point of Wimbledon: The North Node sextiles his Mercury (good mental karma), Saturn trine his Venus (loyalty in his personal life), North Node trine his Saturn (fair karma if earned). These are not exciting transits, but they are fairly supportive.
At the end of Wimbledon: Mars squares his Mercury (he could be fractious or irritable, maybe throw a tantrum?). He still has the North Node trine his Saturn, but not much else. I do not think he will make it to the final.
Cilic plays Roberto Bautista-Agut on Monday. Their synastry shows Cilic’s Sun trine Bautista-Agut’s Mars, and their Marses sextile, so a good flow of energy between them (should make for good rallies!). Cilic’s Neptune trines Bautista-Agut’s Mars, so Cilic is attuned well to his opponent’s energy and able to read it well, and sympathize with him when off the court. Cilic’s Pluto is sextile Roberto’s Neptune, so more empathy between them.
Bautista-Agut’s prospects mid-Wimbledon: Pluto squares his Mercury, which may break up his concentration. This transit becomes exact at the final, so he is not likely to get there. His transits are overall weaker than Cilic’s, so I would assume from that that Cilic will beat him tomorrow.
Dominic Thiem – No. 8 Seed
For fans of Thiem, I have no extra information at this stage! But there is some conjecture to be found under last week’s comments from various quarters.
To recap, at the French Open, I wrote:
“Thiem has Sun in Virgo (known as a humble personality) and Moon in Aries (aggressive baseline player), with Ascendant in Cancer (probably very patriotic). Uranus and Neptune are exactly conjunct in Capricorn opposite the Ascendant, early in 7th House. He has the ability to bamboozle an opponent… He has Mars conjunct closely Jupiter, great energy and enthusiasm, in Libra in 3rd House. Mars squares Uranus/Neptune – creating complex electrical energy. With Uranus/Neptune sextile exactly Midheaven (Careerpoint), he could have a brilliant career!”
“The transit of Jupiter on Dominic’s Mars (sporting success) takes place at the beginning of Wimbledon which is late this year (3rd July), so he will make a very good start there …But he has a Jupiter Return close to the Wimbledon Final, which if he stays the course of that tournament could spell great success. The Return takes place 19/20th July, and Wimbledon ends on 16th.”
” I think Thiem could do even better at Wimbledon than he does at Roland-Garros.”
It was then pointed out to me that Thiem would meet Roger Federer in their half of the draw. I then added:
“My enthusiasm for Thiem’s prospects are based on his Jupiter Return in Libra just after the close of Wimbledon, which occurs in his 4th House.
My enthusiasm for Roger’s prospects are based on ” Jupiter sextile his Sun (an excellent prospect), he still has Pluto strengthening his Venus, Jupiter square his Mars has lifted, Neptune still trines his Mars (you could see some stunning work if he is in the final)”. It is true that he has one or two other disadvantages (notably Saturn on his Neptune, which peaks a few days after Wimbledon), but overall I think this is a strong set of transits.”
So if Thiem were to meet Roger Federer in the semi-final, I think the latter would have the edge.
Thiem plays Tomas Berdych No. 11 Seed on Monday. Berdych has slipped down one Seed since last year, when I quoted from 2015:
“As a Virgoan, Tomas is very analytical, but he has a sense of showmanship with Venus and Mars in Leo. We do not have his birth time, so his Moon could be in Libra or Scorpio. If in Scorpio, that would make him extremely emotionally intense as the Moon would be conjunct with Pluto in that sign. There is a lot of seriousness overall in his make up, with the Sun exactly sextile Saturn, and Venus exactly square Saturn. His great energy is coming from Mars closely sextile Pluto. He has hidden depths, and a very strong will (5 of his 10 planets in Fixed signs).”
In the chemistry between Thiem and Berdych, again there is a good karmic tie of Dominic’s Sun trine Berdych’s North Node. Berdych’s Uranus and Chiron square Dominic’s Mercury, inducing some mental strain on him. However, Berdych’s Uranus and Chiron are well aspected with Thiem’s Mars, so physically he is more in harmony with Berdych. Thiem’s Pluto sits on Berdych’s Saturn, which is difficult for the latter.
For Berdych, transits for the middle of Wimbledon: Mars trine his Saturn, fairly constructive, but Neptune square his Uranus, which is tricky.
Transits for the end of Wimbledon: He loses the trine, but keeps the tricky square, so it does not look as though he gains ground through the week.
Thiem’s transits are definitely better for this match.
Grigor Dimitrov – No. 13 Seed
Previously, I have written:
“He has two interesting conjunctions in his chart: one is the Uranus-Neptune conjunction in Capricorn of the early 1990s, which at the time I dubbed “the winds of change”. It enables him to deal with complexity and strong energies. That may describe his role in tennis at the moment, as part of a new vanguard. The other interesting conjunction is that of Mars and Chiron which is very close, so there is some aspect of his energy (Mars) which has been wounded, and which he may have repaired, to find his Inner Healer. His athleticism shows in his chart as the Sun exactly sextile Mars.” The Mars/Chiron conjunction may well be turned into a strength (see Johanna Konta, who also has it, and turned things around very quickly after her injury at Eastbourne).
After dating Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova, Dimitrov is currently in a relationship with the singer Nicole Scherzinger. They have a romantic conjunction between Dimitrov’s Venus and Nicole’s Sun, and a dynamic conjunction between Dimitrov’s Mars/Chiron and Nicole’s Mercury. There is also extra chemistry from his Venus sextile her Mars.
Midway through Wimbledon Dimitrov has a Mars Return, so he won’t be short of energy and fight. Pluto is sextile his natal Pluto, so he’ll be true to himself at the deepest level. At the end of Wimbledon the Nodal Axis squares his Sun, so his karma is not easy. Neptune sextiles his Uranus, so he will be feeling sensitive. He will be playing Roger Federer tomorrow, who seems unbeatable at the moment, and has good transits for the end of Wimbledon. I don’t think Dimitrov will beat Federer.
Aspects
At 4.07 this morning, while you were hopefully sleeping, there was a Full Moon at 17 degrees Capricorn. Perhaps you felt the emotional tension yesterday, or had a sleepless night. On waking, perhaps the tension may not quite have dispersed, and if so that may be because tomorrow the Sun is opposed by Pluto, and the effects of this may seem similar to the build up of the Full Moon. So it is a challenging start to the week, and one in which you need to ensure that you treat yourself with kid gloves, and others with tender loving care. Those with a tendency to create drama may take the stage, but it is best to treat these two days as a damage limitation exercise. If you are looking for the highest expression of Full Moon in Capricorn, there may be an opportunity for the successful culmination of some administration or organization. With the Full Moon having occurred overnight, it is also possible that you received some dream guidance along those lines.
Tomorrow’s aspect of Sun opposite Pluto also occurs around the same time, 4.35 a.m. You may wake with a dream message around that time. Certainly the message of this aspect is a deep one, and one which may not be easily accessed by the conscious mind. Again, the day may belong to those who express along more dramatic lines. There may be more tears to release, and the conversation may revolve around mortality and health matters (physical or mental health). Looking inwards may be a profitable exercise, but look out for those who may be struggling with the process.
After tomorrow, the emotion may start to ebb away, and there are no more aspects until Friday (14th), so you can regard this intervening period as a process of regeneration. You are rewarded for your inner work this week on Friday by a refreshing sextile between Mercury and Jupiter, the light at the end of the tunnel (if there was a tunnel). You may emerge with new ideas and receive stimulating and positive news. The aspect is good for sales and business, travel and education. Literary works and publishing ventures also thrive successfully. If you’ve been suffering a writer’s block with your novel recently (as I have), there may be a breakthrough. International or global communications may reach out productively, too – you may find more response in an email from abroad than in your locality.
The week in bullet points:
- Today – conflicting emotions
- Tomorrow – the need to dig deep, but gently
- Friday – green light on communications

Hi Lana,
Just found out that Roger is having a cold since the 2nd round. Got it from his son. Could this be the Saturn on Neptune? Also will this combination be strengthening in the 2nd week? If it does, he has his work cut out for him.

Dear Lana
Thank you for spending so much time on the Essential Wimbledon blog. I am especially grateful because I have not managed to see any matches so far. As for aspects – spot on! Tomorrow my work is going to be cut out dealing with issues of health and mortality relating to a dear friend.

Hi Lana, yet more in depth blog on Wimbledon contestants. Well done for so much work and information.
I had a restless night, finally coming downstairs for some soothing camomile tea, around 3 am and seeing the nearly Full Moon in front of my bedroom window. That explained the odd bright light I’d noticed. I did settle better after 4 am, post Fullness peak I guess. Today so far is okay but I’ll keep my ‘treading on egg shells’ approach for tomorrow as well. It’s all rather challenging and extra love to us all for reaching regeneration by Friday.

Just found your wonderful site, Thanks for all the great Tennis posts.
If you could be kind enough to answer my queries, its greatly appreciated-
“How do you see Rafa’s astrology for Mon & wednesday matches?”
Thank You!

Thanks, Mike
The same thought did drop into my mind. It may be a sign that Roger is a little run down – he’s been expending a lot of energy recently. But the cold did not dent his performance, and I don’t think it will affect it unduly. Saturn and Neptune are both cold planets. Even though the transit peaks just after Wimbledon, I don’t think it will be too damaging. It is only just a cold at the moment, nothing more. Could be that he may have a delayed reaction, after Wimbledon from soldiering on for the fortnight. That is just my view, though…
All the best,
Lana

Hi Sarah
Thanks again for reading today’s offering, and hope it enhances your enjoyment of the coming week’s tennis.
Sorry to hear you did have the restless sleep of the Full Moon, and hope that you are able to keep your famous equilibrium through the Sun-Pluto opposition and beyond.
A rapid regeneration to you,

Dear Tri
Is it true they call Dimitrov the baby Federer? Let’s see if that translates into an interesting karma between them…:
Roger’s Mars opposes Dimitrov’s Uranus, sparks can fly between them. On the other hand their Jupiters are exactly sextile, so in some ways they improve each other’s game. They also have good connections between each other’s Jupiters and Saturns. Their Saturns are exactly trine, so they can be very grounded in the presence of each other. Last but not least, Roger’s Pluto squares Dimitrov’s Nodal Axis, which is very karmic, they can affect each other’s lives, but Roger can probably make Grigor’s life more difficult. Very strong connections.
Dimitrov has never beaten Federer, of course. And I have written (above):
” Midway through Wimbledon Dimitrov has a Mars Return, so he won’t be short of energy and fight. I don’t think Dimitrov will beat Federer.”
Looking specifically at Roger’s transits for the middle Monday of Wimbledon: There is nothing new to observe. As I found last week: ” By the end of Wimbledon, he has Jupiter sextile his Sun (an excellent prospect), he still has Pluto strengthening his Venus, Jupiter square his Mars has lifted, Neptune still trines his Mars (you could see some stunning work if he is in the final), the Nodal Axis still squares his Uranus, Saturn still sits on his Neptune, but in addition Saturn is sextile his Pluto. That could be a winning combination!”
There is in addition, at the middle of Wimbledon, a helpful but minor sextile from Mercury to his Jupiter, and some more minor assistance in the form of Venus trine his Saturn, the Sun sextile his Venus. They may enhance his day.
All the best,
Lana

Dear Ana
Thanks very much for your appreciation of my site and tennis writings.
Just recapping on what I wrote last week about Rafa:
“Fresh from the triumph of his 10th win at the French Open, Rafael will be hungry for another Grand Slam win. For his win in the final of the French Open he had Jupiter trine his Sun, and Uranus conjunct his natal North Node, plus Neptune square his Chiron.
At the beginning of Wimbledon the North Node sextiles Rafa’s Mercury, so his mental faculties may be acute.
By the end of Wimbledon, that transit is still operational. He will also have Jupiter square his Venus, which is enjoyable and could make for some flamboyant artistic moves. This set of transits is not as powerful as Roger’s.”
Specifically for Monday, Mars opposes his natal Mars, which could see him take a bit of a tumble, and Venus opposes his Saturn which is not too injurious; and on Wednesday the Mars opposition has moved on (so he will be safe from that if he gets through Monday). He then has Jupiter trine his Chiron, which is helpful and healing and strengthening. Uranus on his North Node can surprise others and himself, but Neptune square his Chiron could mean something is sapping at him, e.g. energywise.
His opponent for Monday is Gilles Muller, who has a very Taurean chart and a lucky Jupiter/Uranus conjunction in Sagittarius. Nadal’s Mars trines Gilles’ Mercury giving a good energy and mental exchange between them. But Gilles’ Pluto is on Nadal’s South Node, which can be troublesome. Gilles’ transits tomorrow are Pluto trine his Sun (power), Mars sextile his Mercury (mental energy), Chiron square his Venus (some personal difficulty), Uranus trine his Neptune (encompassing complexity), Chiron square his Neptune (some possible health weakness) and Uranus opposite his Pluto (possible hazard such as injury). At the end of Wimbledon Mars squares his Pluto (dangerous; he is not likely to make the final, there is too much stacked against him).
I think Rafa will get through tomorrow’s Mars opposition, though there may be a minor incident. As you know Rafa is playing so well, and it’s lovely to see him having left behind the years of injuries. I wish him well.

Dear Lana
I finally got to see some tennis. Hooray!
You were right about Johanna Konta but sadly not about Rafa. I thought Muller did in fact play in a very Taurean style. I am always sad to see Rafa lose
I did see most of Andy Murrays match which has put me in a very good mood today after spending the morning attending to the deeper issues promised in your aspects.

Hi Lana
Today are some interesting women matches. They play often on a equal level so the transits could depend much more. Have you got to analyze them? Konta vs. Halep would be interesting.

It is definitely a big match for both:
“Konta is bidding to become the first British female in a semi-final at the All England Club since Virginia Wade in 1978. On the other side of the net, Halep is bidding to become world No. 1 for the first time in her career.
Traditionally, the Romanian has failed to produce when it really matters and Konta will fancy her chances on this surface.”

Dear Pitsch
First of all my commiserations about Thiem, and apologies for raising your hopes. I was travelling on trains for most of yesterday, and so I did not get to see him play, but from the score it must have been a nail biter.
Looking at my own record for Sunday’s predictions, I was right about Wosniacki, Konta, Cilic, Raonic and Federer. I was wrong about Kuznetsova, Nadal and Thiem. So my percentage was over half (average) but I would have hoped for more. I had said both Kuznetsova and Radwanska had good transits for the final, so now I am inclined to put Kuznetsova in the final, if not as winner. There are still a lot of players I haven’t looked at yet, notably Venus Williams, but I will look at today’s Konta match (it is not often I get asked about women’s tennis!). I hardly dare look.
What is nice is that Johanna Konta apparently has been baking muffins after each match to take to her crew the next day, and Taurus is the Sun sign associated with baking. Thank you for the observations you report on Halep, as on paper her ranking No. 2 sounds a daunting prospect for Konta.
In the astrological interplay between Johanna and Simona, Simona’s Venus squares Johanna’s Sun, so there is not a natural affinity. Added to that, Simona’s Mars squares Johanna’s Neptune, so another clash in temperaments. The latter aspect gives Johanna the edge in sometimes confusing or scattering Halep’s energies. Halep’s Neptune on Konta’s Uranus could produce a higher mental and spiritual battle, behind the physical battle. They were both born in 1991 so have Plutos conjunct.
In today’s transits, Konta has Mars exactly sextile her Sun (very invigorating), Uranus exactly conjunct her Mercury (if she holds her nerve, she can use her higher mental faculties such as intuition). She has a Mars Return, and Pluto sextile her Pluto (very grounding). No wonder she is playing so well at the moment, she is a joy to watch.
Today’s may be a peak performance, as I have noted above: “At the end of Wimbledon, Mars squares her Mercury so mentally she may be a little more brittle. Some of the high energy transits have trailed away. She still has Neptune sextile her Uranus and Pluto sextile her Pluto, but that, I do not think, is enough to get her into the final.”
I have not watched any of Halep’s matches this year. Her transits for today are Chiron opposite her Mercury (mental challenges), Chiron sextile her Saturn (some resilience), Jupiter square her Neptune (spiritual confusion), Neptune sextile her Neptune (at the same time, some spiritual balance and centring), and like Konta Pluto sextile her Pluto (psychologically grounded).
Of Halep’s further progress I wrote last week: “At the end of the tournament, Chiron still opposes her Mercury (she may not feel 100%), Pluto squares her Mars (a point of danger), Chiron still sextiles her Saturn, Neptune still sextiles her Neptune, and Pluto still sextiles her Pluto. The Pluto square to her Mars may not affect her Wimbledon tournament, as it peaks at the end of August.”
My head says Halep would win, but I think astrologically Johanna Konta could do well today.

Dear Tri
Thanks very much for all your comments! Roger seemed to sail through his match yesterday, whereas Raonic really struggled, and must be extra tired. They have a day to recuperate.
They played each other at Wimbledon in 2014, and I wrote to you then:
“In looking first at the relationship between Raonic and Federer, Raonic’s Neptune opposes Roger’s Mars. So it is good that Roger is so fit at the moment, and he needs to be very clear headed, as when he is vulnerable, Raonic’s energies can confuse him.” I would add that Roger’s Saturn squares Raonic’s Sun, which can make it difficult for Raonic to play his best, as that may flatten his confidence. Federer’s Uranus also sextiles Raonic’s Saturn, which might mean that Raonic plays cautiously against him, and Federer may take calculated risks when he plays with Raonic.
For Wednesday’s transits, Milos has Uranus trine his Mercury (he is still on top form mentally), but Mars opposing his Saturn may dent his confidence or bring on some clumsiness. Neptune sextile his Neptune centres him spiritually, which is a plus for him. For his further prospects, I wrote above: ” At the end of Wimbledon, he still has the skills of Uranus trine his Mercury, added to which are the physical prowess and energy of Mars sextile his Mars, so he could be at peak condition. Neptune still sextiles his Neptune, but he has lost that slightly overbalancing Jupiter square to his Neptune. These are good transits for him for the end of Wimbledon, and may see him into the final. They are not better though, I do not think, than Federer or Thiem’s final transits.”
As for Roger, that Jupiter is still sextile his Sun, so that touch of luck is still around. Mars squares his Jupiter which you would think might make him overconfident or overreach himself, but I see no signs of that in his play (he must have mastered that). Neptune as we know is on his Saturn, which again is a transit I feel he has mastered (does anyone know how his cold is?); Saturn is sextile his Pluto which gives great strength and resilience; Neptune trines his Mars (superbly subtle shots) and Pluto trines his Venus (good for him personally).
As I wrote last week for the final: “By the end of Wimbledon, he has Jupiter sextile his Sun (an excellent prospect), he still has Pluto strengthening his Venus, Jupiter square his Mars has lifted, Neptune still trines his Mars (you could see some stunning work if he is in the final), the Nodal Axis still squares his Uranus, Saturn still sits on his Neptune, but in addition Saturn is sextile his Pluto. That could be a winning combination!”
Roger’s transits look better than Raonic’s tomorrow, and for the final. His final transits still look the best, though there are still players I have to look at, notably Gilles Muller who beat Nadal yesterday.

Dear Janet
I am so glad you are rediscovering your love of watching the tennis! Thank you for your report.
The Rafa vs Muller match was heart-stopping to watch, and commiserations and apologies to Ana, if you are reading this. The match could not have been closer. I too was sad to see him lose, but astonished at Muller’s cool. I must look at his chart sometime soon.
Glad to have Andy Murray and Johanna Konta through, breaking British records for quarter finals today.
And, yes, I know a few people reeling at the moment from the Full Moon on Sunday and yesterday’s Sun opposite Pluto. May this be a healing time (and as it happens we have Light Pod this afternoon).
Have a good week,

Dear Lana
Thank you for writing at length about Johanna Conta. I wish you could find someone to show her your analysis for an extra burst of confidence! I loved the baking story.
I am tied up with childcare from 1.0 pm today right through till tomorrow about 7 pm but hope I can squeeze in the odd half hour of TV tonight when they are in bed. I would love to see the Conta match but I may have to rely on you and your corespondents to keep me in the loop.

Dear Lana
Today it is for me a favourites day. That means that Federer, Cilic, Murray and Djokovic will go a round further.
If there will be an upset than probably Berdych against Djokovic. The “Djoker” is not at his highest level again and seems to be destructive. Berdych instead played a really good match against Thiem and served really well. Maybe they will have a big fight. What do you think?

July 12th, 2017 at 9:11 am
Dear Pitsch
Thanks very much for your query and comments! I agree that it’s worth looking at this possibility.
Berdych did play very strongly in the match against Thiem, judging by the score (I was not able to see the match). I had written:
“Transits for the middle of Wimbledon: Mars trine his Saturn, fairly constructive, but Neptune square his Uranus, which is tricky.
Transits for the end of Wimbledon: He loses the trine, but keeps the tricky square, so it does not look as though he gains ground through the week.”
and obviously I had been missing something, so I will take another look, for today. Today Mercury squares Berdych’s Nodal Axis, and he is up against a mercurial adversary. Venus trines his Jupiter, which is mildly helpful. Mars sextiles his Sun, which is a strong physical and energetic support. This is the transit which Johanna Konta had yesterday, and helped her stamina. Jupiter (luck) is very supportive tomorrow, as it sextiles his Uranus (capacity to surprise) and trines his Chiron (self-healing). Neptune may confuse him with squares to his Uranus and Chiron. So there is a lot of extra help from the Universe today for him.
His synastry with Djokovic shows Djokovic’s Mars opposite Berdych’s Neptune, which indicates that Berdych is capable of confusing Djokovic in play. But Djokovic’s Saturn squares Berdych’s Mercury, so he can sap Berdych’s mental confidence, especially in prolonged play. Also, Djokovic’s Pluto squares Berdych’s Jupiter, so in a power struggle Djokovic has a natural advantage.
For Djokovic, I wrote last week:
” At the end of the tournament he is very mentally focussed (Mercury conjunct his Ascendant and sextile his Mercury) and has lost the Mars transit. But he still has the Chiron transit to his Moon, Pluto square his Jupiter, North Node closely trine his Uranus. If it’s a Murray-Djokovic final, it could be a close run thing, but this set of transits is not inspiring.”
Looking at the transits today for Djokovic’s coach Andre Agassi: Chiron trines his Neptune and Mars sextiles his Pluto, which are better transits than for Djokovic himself, so these benefits may not be connected with Djokovic, they may be more personal to Agassi.
I think I can conclude that it is possible for Berdych to beat Djokovic today. Although Djokovic very much wants to gain ground in his ranking, I don’t see him winning Wimbledon.
Have a good day’s viewing,
Love

Andy Murray is up against Sam Querrey today in the quarter-finals. I haven’t yet looked at Sam Querrey this year. I have previously written about Querrey:
“Sam Querrey has a powerful mind, with Mercury exactly conjunct Pluto (may be responsible for his high record for Aces), and is likely to have had a history of Warriorship in his past lives (Mars conjunct the South Node), but can be a bit awkward physically at times (Chiron square exactly Mars).” He is playing strongly this year.
Querrey’s transits for today: The North Node sextiles his Venus, which is personally gratifying. Chiron opposes his Mars, which is not helpful and could bring clumsiness or even injury. The North Node trines his Jupiter, which is extremely helpful but is waning in its influence. Saturn is on his Uranus, dampening his intuition, though.
In their synastry: Querrey’s Chiron sextiles Murray’s Venus, which is helpful to Murray, and his Jupiter sextiles Murray’s Mars, which is equally good for Murray keeping upbeat. Murray’s Mars trines Querrey’s Venus, which provides harmony between them but makes Murray dominant, as does Murray’s Uranus sextile Querrey’s Venus and trine Querrey’s Jupiter. Finally, Murray’s Pluto conjuncts Querrey’s Mercury, which can be a heavy weight on Querrey’s mind. Their Plutos are conjunct as they were born in the same year. So in the relationship, Murray is much more influential. This seems to be reflected in their record – that out of 8 matches, Murray has won 7.
So last week, I wrote about Murray: “At the end of the tournament Mars squares his Venus which may make it memorable, Uranus still transits his Venus, North Node still sextiles his Mars, Pluto stills squares his Jupiter, the North Node still trines his Uranus and Neptune still opposes his Ascendant.”
As for today’s transits, Mars sextiles his Sun (as Johanna Konta yesterday, and Tomas Berdych today) which is strengthening. Uranus is on his Venus, the North Node sextiles his Mars (also helpful), Pluto squares his Jupiter (not helpful), but North Node trine his Uranus (as Djokovic, who was born a week later). Neptune continues to be on Andy’s Descendant.
Again, although Querrey is playing well, and I don’t see Murray in the final, he could pull off a win against Querrey today.
July 12th, 2017 at 12:24 pm
I have not yet looked at Venus Williams’ transits this year. As she plays Johanna Konta tomorrow in the quarter-finals, it is time! A pundit on breakfast TV this morning was quite unequivocal that Venus would win that match, and go on to win Wimbledon. Is she going to make her family proud?
Jupiter on her Ascendant squares her Midheaven exactly today. That is probably good, though the square may hamper her slightly. Saturn opposes her natal Venus, a transit which peaked in her last match, which she sailed through. Saturn trines her natal North Node, which peaked at the end of week one. Uranus trines her Moon, another transit past its peak. Pluto trines her Mars, which helps her strength and energy, and peaks at the end of Wimbledon, with Pluto in retrograde motion. And Pluto squares her natal Pluto, which was a factor in the car accident which occurred earlier this year.
Her transits for the end of Wimbledon are similar, as we are getting close to that point. Pluto trines her Mars virtually on the day of the final, bringing her to an athletic peak of power. She could win the whole tournament, indeed.
She plays Johanna Konta tomorrow, who played increasingly confidently during yesterday’s match against Simona Halep. If she plays like that with Venus, she could win. But her final transits are not too encouraging:
“At the end of Wimbledon, Mars squares her Mercury so mentally she may be a little more brittle. Some of the high energy transits have trailed away. She still has Neptune sextile her Uranus and Pluto sextile her Pluto, but that, I do not think, is enough to get her into the final.”
In their synastry: Johanna’s Mercury trines Venus’ Moon, which increases their ability to read each other on a personal level. Johanna’s Uranus squares Venus’ Ascendant, so she is capable of providing an upset and taking Venus off guard. Johanna’s Neptune trines Venus’ Chiron, so there is some harmony between them. Johanna’s Pluto sextiles Venus’s Mars, which at another time might give Johanna an advantage, but currently Pluto is working powerfully on behalf of Venus.
In tomorrow’s match Uranus is on Konta’s Mercury exactly, which can sharpen her intuition. Neptune sextiles her Uranus, again increasing her intuition, and Pluto sextiles her Pluto which is very grounding. Venus Williams’ transits are stronger, but Konta does have some chance (I would not rule her out).
July 12th, 2017 at 12:49 pm
Gilles Muller, like Johanna Konta, is a solid and determined Taurean. He has an enterprising and opportunistic conjunction of Jupiter and Uranus in Sagittarius, but a personally challenging conjunction of Saturn and Pluto in Libra. His warrior instincts are strong (Mars conjunct Mercury and Chiron in Taurus).
He won an epic match with Nadal on Monday evening, when his transits were:- Pluto trine his Sun (power), Mars sextile his Mercury (mental and physical energy), Chiron square his Venus (some personal challenge), Uranus trine his Neptune (heightened intuition), Chiron square his Neptune (some inner challenges), and Uranus opposite his Pluto (a severe challenge, which he overcame).
At the end of Wimbledon, he still has the benefits of Pluto trine his Sun, and the challenge of Chiron square his natal Venus, and other challenges mentioned. Crucially, Mars is squaring his Pluto, so he is not likely to make the final and may sustain an injury in the interim.
Today (actually, now!) he is playing Marin Cilic. In their synastry, Muller’s Pluto is on Cilic’s Mercury, which could weigh heavily on Cilic mentally. His North Node trines Cilic’s Mercury, so they may have some past life karmic links. This is reinforced by Cilic’s Saturn and Uranus on Muller’s South Node. Cilic’s Uranus sextiles Muller’s Pluto, which just gives Muller an extra edge.
For Cilic today, Saturn trines his Venus (steady feelings), and the North Node trines his Saturn (karma supportive but in a low key way). On Sunday I wrote: ” At the end of Wimbledon: Mars squares his Mercury (he could be fractious or irritable, maybe throw a tantrum?). He still has the North Node trine his Saturn, but not much else. I do not think he will make it to the final.”
For Muller today as well as the other aspects mentioned for Monday and the final, he has an extra oomph in the shape of Mars sextile his Mars. So he could go through today against Cilic (Mars is not yet squaring his Pluto – this upset happens exactly on the day of the final or just before).
I can go and watch the tennis now!

Dear Janet
Thanks very much for your comment, and extra encouragement.
So sorry you will be missing tennis again today.
Well, we are in the middle of the Murray match, and it is 1 set all with Querrey, and a tie break in the 3rd set.
At this point, I am going to have my usual 3 p.m. daily meditation, partly to escape the tension!
So enjoy any glimpses you may get of this so far very equal match!

P.S. Sorry for the delay in replying. I needed to report on the matches before they started!
July 12th, 2017 at 3:50 pm
Ouch, Janet! It’s been a poor day at the office…
While I was in meditation, Andy Murray lost the last two sets 6-1 6-1 which must have been very painful viewing. And Cliic beat Muller.
Should Andy Murray have conceded the match rather than play on a painful hip for two more sets? I worry about what the damage is.
That Pluto squaring his Jupiter (hip) has been operating throughout the Wimbledon period. I am particularly sensitive about hips at the moment, because my friend in Essex has been in hospital most of this year with a hip problem.
I do hope that the sports doctors can do something about the problem; Andy himself sounds reasonably optimistic that it is not too serious, in interview.

What a day and what a performance of Federer. Who should stop him from winning?
July 12th, 2017 at 6:01 pm
Well done, Pitsch, for predicting that Berdych could beat Djokovic!
Very interesting that Murray and Djokovic, who were born a week apart and had some similar transits, both went out on the same day due to injury. Pluto is also square Novak’s Jupiter, but for him the injury was in the shoulder and arm (which are Mercury ruled, and Mercury is his Sun ruler indicating a possible weakness in that area). A Pluto transit square is probably the most destructive square from a planet.
As for who can beat Federer, he has the best transits for the final I have seen so far. He will play Berdych on Friday, and Cilic plays Querrey on Friday, so I will take another look at the other three tomorrow, but from what I have seen so far he has had the best transits right through.

July 13th, 2017 at 8:47 am
Dear Lana
I am so sorry that most of the “big guns” have gone. I love watching Nadal, Murray and Djokovic. Was there a big “Injury”star hanging over Wimbledon this year? As I love all the big four I would love to see Roger win this year. Can you tweak his chart accordingly?

Most certainly, Pitsch!
Women’s semi-finals analysis coming up first, as they start at 1 pm!
July 13th, 2017 at 9:56 am
Dear Janet
I believe the “injury star” for Djokovic and Murray was Jupiter square their Plutos, for they were born a week apart.
Will be analysing the men’s semi-finals after the women’s, but I don’t think I need to do any tweaking on Roger’s chart, as I have been quite consistent from the very beginning of week 1 that Roger has the best finals transits, and so far I haven’t seen anything to contradict that.
Hope you are able to catch up with Wimbledon today!

Dear Pitsch
As we draw near to the end of Wimbledon, there is less ground to cover!
Women’s Semi-Finals Thursday13th July 2017
Garbine Muguruza and Magdalena Rybarikova
I haven’t written much about Muguruza up to now, despite the fact that she appeared in the final against Serena Williams in 2015.
So, looking at her chart, Garbine has Sunsign Libra, the sign I most associate with tennis players traditionally. She also has three planets in Scorpio, including Mars which gives her a strong emotional drive, although she has 0 fire planets. She also has Neptune exactly conjunct Uranus in Capricorn, which gives her the ability to encompass complexity. Her Mars conjuncts closely Mercury, giving her quick mental reactions. Jupiter trine Saturn gives good balanced judgement, handy if you’re a Libran. Saturn squares Pluto exactly, which can cause problems at times in her life when that square is triggered by a difficult transit. Finally, Chiron squares her Nodal Axis, which may bring intractable health problems at various times in her life. Fortunately, she must be feeling fine this year.
Today Jupiter is on her Sun, an excellent indication of success. Saturn is sextile her Jupiter, steadying her from going to extremes, and Pluto is on her Uranus/Neptune (which could bring upset).
For the women’s final event on Saturday, Jupiter is still lending excellent support, Saturn is still holding her energies sensibly, and Pluto still challenging her. The Jupiter transit peaks on Sunday, which is so close to the final.
She meets Magdalena Rybarikova today. I wrote, earlier in the tournament:
“She has a complex chart with multiple squares and two sets of T-squares, and half of her planets are in the Fire element. She has an exact conjunction of Saturn and Uranus – capable of causing earthquakes, but also she has had some earthquakes in health matters this year:
Simon Cambers in the Guardian writes: ‘Out of the game for seven months last year after having operations on her left wrist and right knee, she moved smoothly and never allowed the Czech the time to dictate, even if she led by a set and a break.’
At yesterday’s knockout, Rybarikova had Uranus trine her natal Uranus (the power of surprise), but that wanes by the end of Wimbledon. Therefore, I still believe we have not yet found the winner!”
In the synastry between Muguruza and Rybarikova, Rybarikova’s Jupiter sits on Muguruza’s South Node, which is karmic, and probably benefits Muguruza more. Rybarikova’s Neptune trines Muguruza’s Mars, so they can tune in to each other physically and spiritually quite well.
Today Rybarikova has Mars square her Mercury, which makes her fractious, irritable, possibly clumsy or liable to minor injury. The North Node sextiles her Mercury and trines her Saturn, which enables her karma to help her as much as possible. At the women’s final date the North Node still sextiles her Mercury, but that is not likely to be enough to secure victory.
Therefore Muguruza seems the more likely candidate to go through to the final.
Venus Williams and Johanna Konta
I covered these two yesterday:
“I have not yet looked at Venus Williams’ transits this year.
In tomorrow’s match [i.e. now today] Uranus is on Konta’s Mercury exactly, which can sharpen her intuition. Neptune sextiles her Uranus, again increasing her intuition, and Pluto sextiles her Pluto which is very grounding. Venus Williams’ transits are stronger, but Konta does have some chance (I would not rule her out).”
I would add that on breakfast TV this morning, several reasons were given by Konta’s coach why she can beat Williams, not least that she is phenomenally positive in her mindset. This is something she has worked on over the years, as her nervousness used to be a weak point.
I think on balance, I have to choose Williams as she has such a strong final transit.
That would make a semi-final (from my point of view) of Muguruza vs Williams.

Men’s Semi-Finals Friday 14th July 2017
Mercury sextiles Jupiter tomorrow which should make for good viewing.
Marin Cilic vs Sam Querrey
Marin Cilic managed to wear down Gilles Muller (who conquered Nadal) yesterday, to gain a place in the men’s semi-final.
Tomorrow, Marin Cilic has Saturn trine his Venus (personal steadiness), North Node trine his Saturn (steady karma). Not wildly exciting transits, but they have taken him this far, so they are not to be sniffed at!
I have written about his transits for the finals: ” At the end of Wimbledon: Mars squares his Mercury (he could be fractious or irritable, maybe throw a tantrum?). He still has the North Node trine his Saturn (and this peaked a couple of weeks ago!), but not much else. I do not think he will make it to the final.”
He plays Sam Querrey, who wore down the injured Andy Murray yesterday. Their synastry is as follows:-
Sam’s Neptune squares Marin’s Sun and Mars, which could confuse Marin Cilic. Querrey’s Uranus trines Marin’s Venus, which can bring some unusual interplay. Sam’s Jupiter trines Marin’s Saturn, which can lead to some solid rallying.
For Sam Querrey tomorrow, Mars squares his Venus (possible minor injury), North Node sextiles his natal Venus (some karmic satisfaction), Chiron opposite Mars (possible injury, but waning in influence), Mars square his Jupiter (a lot of enthusiasm, but again very incident-prone), North Node trine Jupiter (some luck, but this transit has just passed, and may have been his match with Murray). Could be a lively match!
For the final in relation to Sam: Saturn conjuncts his Uranus (a bit hazardous, but he has lived with this through the whole tournament and it is easing) and Uranus sextiles his Chiron (some unusual healing going on, but this peaked a few days ago).
It is very difficult to call this match, because both players have weak transits. Sam Querrey has got slightly more going on, so therefore I will go for him reaching the final.
Roger Federer vs Tomas Berdych
As I said on 2nd July: “By the end of Wimbledon, he [Roger Federer] has Jupiter sextile his Sun (an excellent prospect), he still has Pluto strengthening his Venus, Jupiter square his Mars has lifted, Neptune still trines his Mars (you could see some stunning work if he is in the final), the Nodal Axis still squares his Uranus, Saturn still sits on his Neptune, but in addition Saturn is sextile his Pluto. That could be a winning combination!
For tomorrow’s semi-final, he has Mars trine his Uranus exactly (could be a stupendous performance!), Jupiter sextile his Sun (the excellent prospect), Saturn on his Neptune (the persistent cold? Or is it hay fever?), Saturn sextile his Pluto (great strength), Neptune trine his Mars (stunning work), and Pluto trine Venus (what more could he wish for?).
He plays Tomas Berdych, and for the Australian Open this year I wrote about their synastry: “Their Jupiters trine natally, so they would get on well naturally. Roger’s Mercury trines Berdych’s Uranus, so there is a certain amount of telepathy that goes on between them, psyching each other out and maybe having to shield thoughts from each other while on the court.”
As for Berdych tomorrow, Neptune squares his Uranus, which is the only major transit, and not an easy one. There is a favourable minor transit of Mercury trine his Uranus, which may help him a little, but as you can see this pales into insignificance next to what Roger has going for him.
Therefore, I have to choose Roger Federer to go into the final. Which would mean Federer vs. Querrey in the final, by my reckoning.

Hope you are ok
Querrey is out. Cilic vs Federer. Who will have the best Astrology in the final?

Good to hear from you. I’m fine, thanks, and hope you are.
I am just going out for a couple of hours and then when I get back I will be writing about the Ladies’ finals! Before they happen…
Then later today I will analyze the Men’s finals.

Noon 15/7/17
Ladies Finals
The Ladies Final takes place at 2 pm this afternoon. When I looked at the first four seeds on 2nd July, I wrote:
“The winner of the Ladies’ Singles may not be any of the four top seeds.” I couldn’t find any finals transits worthy of success among them.
I finally got round to looking at Venus Williams’ chart on Tuesday 12th, when it seemed quite clear she DID have what it takes astrologically. I wrote: “Her transits for the end of Wimbledon are similar, as we are getting close to that point. Pluto trines her Mars virtually on the day of the final, bringing her to an athletic peak of power. She could win the whole tournament, indeed.”
She plays Garbine Muguruza (I love that name), whose chart I looked at the next day. I wrote: “For the women’s final event on Saturday, Jupiter is still lending excellent support, Saturn is still holding her energies sensibly, and Pluto still challenging her. The Jupiter transit peaks on Sunday, which is so close to the final.” and “Therefore Muguruza seems the more likely candidate to go through to the final… That would make a semi-final (from my point of view) of Muguruza vs Williams.”
In their synastry, Venus’ Mercury sextiles Garbine’s Venus, so they have got each other’s number on a personal level. Venus’ Venus trines Garbine’s Jupiter, so their matches would have a feelgood factor. Venus’ Mars trines Garbine’s Uranus/Neptune, so Venus can energize Garbine and Garbine can stretch Venus. Venus’ Jupiter conjuncts Garbine’s Chiron, so they are good for each other’s tennis (it should be a good match!) Then there are a negative aspects: Venus’ Saturn conjuncts Garbine’s Venus, so Venus (the player, not the planet) can pull rank on Garbine to some extent, like she did with Johanna Konta. All that experience counts for something, on that Centre Court. Venus’s Neptune squares Garbine’s Venus, which on a personal level might dazzle Garbine. And finally, Venus’ Pluto squares Garbine’s Uranus/Neptune, which really does give Venus an advantage in their interaction.
I have already written about their final transits, but will take one last look to see if there are any further nuances to pick up…
For Garbine, Jupiter is virtually exactly on her Sun, and Saturn is sextile her Jupiter, so there is a lot of luck but that may be the luck that brought her to the final. Pluto is sitting ominously on her Uranus/Neptune conjunction, which cannot be discounted, and Pluto is working so favourably for Venus Williams at the moment.
For Venus, Jupiter squares her Midheaven, and if anyone can turn a square into a trine it would be her. Saturn opposes her Venus, which may be a disappointment, but may be connected with her feelings about the car crash she was involved in earlier in the year. Uranus trines her Moon: her moods are changeable but with a heightened awareness. Neptune trines her Midheaven, she has a more sensitive feeling of where her life is going at the moment. But it is the trine of Pluto to her natal Mars which I think is the strongest transit of all in terms of power and athleticism, and I think that trumps Garbine’s cluster of astrological influences.
A chart of the time of the match shows Mars right at the top and Uranus on the Descendant in square to each other, which makes for a lot of excitement.

Men’s Finals
The Men’s Final takes place at 2 pm tomorrow afternoon.
When I looked at the first four seeds on 2nd July, I wrote for Roger:
“By the end of Wimbledon, he has Jupiter sextile his Sun (an excellent prospect), he still has Pluto strengthening his Venus, Jupiter square his Mars has lifted, Neptune still trines his Mars (you could see some stunning work if he is in the final), the Nodal Axis still squares his Uranus, Saturn still sits on his Neptune, but in addition Saturn is sextile his Pluto. That could be a winning combination!” and
“So, for the top four men’s seeds, Roger Federer’s transits look the most promising”. None of the other top four seeds had anything approaching winning finals transits.
Since then, that picture has been consistent, and there haven’t been any other exciting looking finals transits for the various players I looked at.
Roger plays Marin Cilic tomorrow. I looked at his chart on Sunday 9th July, writing:
“At the end of Wimbledon: Mars squares his Mercury (he could be fractious or irritable, maybe throw a tantrum?). He still has the North Node trine his Saturn, but not much else. I do not think he will make it to the final.” I have underestimated his chances this year!
Marin was born in a village called Medjugorje in Bosnia and Herzogovina, the site of the apparitions of the Virgin Mary. In another miracle, there was no tennis court in that place until sometime in his childhood, when he was the first to play on it. If it were not for that, he may not be on Centre Court tomorrow! Could be somewhere in his chart there is a clue to such miracles: perhaps his Saturn/Uranus conjunction at the Galactic Centre.
In their synastry, I have written in the past: “Roger has his Jupiter conjunct Cilic’s Sun, but square his Neptune and Chiron. The squares are a little challenging to Roger – Cilic may be able to confuse him in some ways. Roger’s Jupiter/Saturn conjunction sits on Cilic’s Sun, which in turn can confuse Cilic. And Roger’s Saturn squares Cilic’s Chiron, which is problematic for them both. There is some harmony, in Roger’s Neptune trine Cilic’s Venus.”
I have already written about their final transits, but will take one last look to see if there are any further nuances to pick up…
On finals day, Cilic has Mars square his natal Mercury, the same transit that made Rybarikova a little agitated (the word used by Tracy Austin commentating) in the women’s semis. Saturn trines his Venus, which gives him some steadiness, the North Node trines his Saturn, which is helpful in giving him karmically what is his due (exactly what is his due, and no more, whatever that should be).
For Roger, (and I shall say this only just one more time), Jupiter sextiles his Sun (luck), Pluto trines his Venus (strength of feeling), Neptune trines his Mars (the subtlety of his shots), the North Node squares his Uranus (a little possibility of upset), Saturn on his Neptune (the lingering cold?) and Saturn sextile his Pluto (strength of character). That is much more than Cilic has to work with astrologically, and my money has been on Federer right the way through, but Cilic should give him a good match.
A chart of the time of the match shows Mars right at the top and Uranus on the Descendant in square to each other, even more precisely than at the women’s final, which makes for even more excitement.

Ladies Final Result
Something happened to Venus Williams in the middle of the final. She had two set points towards the end of the first set, which Muguruza saved, and then Williams’ strength seemed to give up. Muguruza played amazing tennis, with great strength. Venus lost the second set 6 – 0. Apparently, she has never done that at Wimbledon.
In the end, Jupiter (luck) came through for Garbine Muguruza, while Pluto (strength and power) didn’t quite last through this final for Venus Williams. In the roll call of winning transits from year to year, it is Jupiter that is stencilled in today.
July 15th, 2017 at 4:50 pm
Thank you Lana. What do you exactly think about the result. Do you think this will be an easy match for federer in straight sets or do you think Cilic can gain one or two sets too?
July 15th, 2017 at 9:46 pm
Dear Pitsch
Thank you for asking…I haven’t considered how you would determine the number of sets. If you were going by Federer’s record in this tournament, you would think straight sets. But as I have underestimated Cilic this year more than once, I would overcompensate and think four or five sets.
I suppose you would be concerned that if the match went on too long, Roger might tire (looking at what happened to the veteran Venus, today). Maybe that is the meaning of the Mars-Uranus square on the angles of the matches of both semi-finals, a fast match with a shock element (which could as easily go Roger’s way).
So I will make an attempt, and see what actually happens: I will say 5 sets, with a win for Roger. This is only based on my own underestimate of Cilic this week. It will be interesting to see what criteria determines the length of the match, but either way I will be looking forward to it!

Dear Lana
Thank you for all your hard work on Wimbledon – hoping you can close the lap top and put your feet up this afternoon.
I found it quite upsetting to watch Venus Williams (looking so bewildered) yesterday whilst at the same time marv eling at Muguruza’s wonderful tennis. The best woman definitely won on the day.
I cant find myself picking a favourite this afternoon. I would love to see Roger Federer break all those records not least for your other poster TRI who has “kept the faith” for the last few years. And I always like players who come over as nice people – like Marin Cilic! I’m just going to have to sit back and enjoy the tennis. Thanks again, Lana. Looking to forward to one last hurrah when you log on tonight and tell us what happened – astrologically.

Hi Lana
Thank you for your hard work throughtout Wimbledon. Roger won and you was right about Roger’s astrology.

Thank you, Janet!
I will indeed be having a break from this “work”, as I am visiting an aunt in London on Monday, then visiting my mother in Salisbury from Tuesday to Friday.
I agree, Garbine was magnificent, but I was also sad to see the collapse of Venus’ game, having played so well throughout the tournament.
Coming up, a post-mortem, as you predicted, on what happened…

Men’s Final Result
Well, in the end, Roger Federer won it in straight sets, his eighth Wimbledon championship! What a man, and an extraordinary human being, and lovely to see his two sets of twins in the crowd.
What can we learn about this win astrologically? As with the women’s final, the traditional planet of luck (Jupiter) reigned supreme (Jupiter sextile Roger’s Sun and on Garbine’s Sun). For Cilic, the North Node trine his Saturn was an honour and a responsibility, but didn’t quite assist him in attaining the prize.
The match was short and sharp in both finals, and a chart for 2 pm on Saturday and Sunday showed Mars square Uranus on the angles, which exactly described what happened. With Marin Cilic 6-1 down in the second set, it looked almost like a repeat.
I spotted Roger as the winner the day before the tournament started, which is a plus for me (among my many wrong calls!). Though I was wrong about the determinants for the length of the men’s final (Roger’s trend of not dropping a set; overestimating Cilic this time to overcompensate for underestimating him) I was right that Mars squaring his Mercury would make him agitated on the day – he was actually distraught in the middle of the match, which was very sad to see.
I have learned a tremendous amount about astrology from this exercise, for which I am truly grateful. So it remains for me to thank all who contributed over this fortnight to making this an interesting place, and hope that it will be possible to meet again next year!
Love to All,
Lana

Hi Lana,
Just wondering how’s Roger astrology in this coming US Open?
Are there any signal of retirement in his astrology probably in 2018?
July 17th, 2017 at 8:01 am
Thanks, Mike,
If Roger decides to take part in the U.S. Open this year, he still has Pluto trine his Venus (personal satisfaction) at the start, plus the Neptune trine his Mars (stunning shots). He has Jupiter sextile his Neptune (faith and high spirits), plus Jupiter on his Pluto (luck and power). Saturn also sextiles his Pluto, adding extra strength. That is a very good line up.
At the end of the tournament, he still has Pluto trine his Venus, Saturn is on his Neptune, the North Node trines his Neptune (inspiration), Saturn sextiles his Pluto, and the North Node sextiles his Pluto (important karma). Still a good line up, but not as stunning as at the start of the tournament.
It depends of course, what the others have, but he certainly has a chance of winning.
I think the Saturn on his Neptune this year, plus Neptune on the Descendant, encouraged him to listen to his body, take a break, and he knows that paid off. I also feel he is not a man intending to retire. He said in his winning speech “I kept on dreaming and believing”, and I think he still wants to continue. Though he may decide to sit out some tournaments, knowing that it does not affect his game adversely. For the same reason, I don’t think he will retire in 2018. Neither do I see any dramatic shifts in his chart in 2018 which would indicate retirement.

Dear Lana
I hope you are doing well!
Meanwhile the US Open is going on and Federer plays better and better from round to round. In the quarterfinal he plays against a adorable player Del Potro (23.9.1988,Tandil, Argentina). What do you think? Will he progress? li

Thanks for your enquiry, Pitsch!
I am doing fine, and hope you are, too.
Good to hear Roger is progressing well through the U.S. Open.
Juan Martin del Potro is a charming Libran, with a very powerful conjunction of Saturn and Uranus at the Galactic Centre in Sagittarius, natally.
Looking at his synastry with Juan del Potro:
Juan’s Sun sextiles Roger’s North Node (a good karmic link)
Juan’s Mars opposes Roger’s Jupiter (they generate a lot of energy between them)
Juan’s Mars opposes Roger’s Saturn (there is also some roughness between them)
Juan’s Jupiter trines Roger’s Saturn (they can improve each other’s game, in different ways)
Juan’s Jupiter conjuncts Roger’s Midheaven (Juan can bring Roger luck in his career)
Juan’s Neptune squares Roger’s Jupiter (Juan can confuse Roger at times)
Juan’s Pluto sextiles Roger’s Ascendant (Juan can also bring Roger great strength)
Looking at Roger’s transits for tomorrow’s game:
Pluto is trine his natal Venus (personal strength)
Saturn is still on his Neptune (well, that did not hold him back at Wimbledon)
North Node is trine his Neptune (transcendent inspiration)
Saturn is sextile his Pluto (more strength)
So I can see why you say he is playing better from round to round.
Looking at Juan’s transits for tomorrow’s game:
Uranus trines his Uranus (the capacity to surprise)
Chiron squares his Uranus (the possibility of injury)
It would seem that Roger has a lot more going for him astrologically at this time.
I do not have Juan’s birth time, whereas Roger’s is well known, so that may alter the picture slightly, but I have to go with Roger.

Dear Lana
Thank you for your insights and work. What a surprise. Federer’s out in 4.
Now there a just 4 competitors left:
1. Rafael Nadal, b. June 3 1986, 7:10 pm (unsure) Manacor, Spain
against
2. Juan del Potro b. September 23 1988 Tandil, Argentina
3. Kevin Anderson b. May 18. 1986 in Johannesburg, South Africa
against
4. Pablo Carreño Busta b. July 1991 in Gijón, Spain
Would you mind if I ask you again to predict? I would guess a final between Anderson and Del Potro.

September 8th, 2017 at 10:46 am
Well, I’ll try, Pitsch!
Synastry between Nadal and del Potro:
Not easy karma. Del Potro’s Nodal Axis squares Nadal’s Sun, and Del Potro’s Saturn/Uranus oppose Nadal’s Mercury (mental strain on Nadal). Their Mercuries are trine, so on a mental level they understand each other. Nadal’s Saturn trines Del Potro’s Mars, which strengthens Del Potro. And Del Potro’s Jupiter opposes Nadal’s Saturn, which may dampen Del Potro’s enthusiasm. All in all, though, Del Potro finds the interaction easier.
Today, Del Potro still has Uranus trine his Uranus (the capacity to surprise) and Chiron square his Uranus (which could bring an upset). But those transits got him through the previous round. Rafael Nadal has Neptune square his Sun (confusion) and Jupiter square his Mars (enthusiasm, but may overreach himself), Saturn square his Jupiter (dampening some of his natural enthusiasm) and Saturn on his Uranus (again, the possibility of an upset). So Nadal’s transits are not great. Therefore, like you, I will go for Del Potro of the two.
I’ve said about Kevin Anderson:
Kevin Anderson is a Taurean from South Africa, with a persevering Mars in Capricorn closely trine his Taurus Mercury – quick mental and physical reactions, and a great deal of stamina. He has 5 of his 10 planets in Earth signs.
Pablo Busta is new to me! He has strong emotional resources, with Sun in Cancer trine Pluto, and his Sun is at the South Node, indicating power issues from past lives. There is also some emotional wounding, whether from this life or a previous one, with his Moon conjunct Chiron. Therefore if he is having an off day emotionally, it could affect his play. On the plus side he has Mercury conjunct Jupiter, so he is a very positive thinker. His Jupiter squares Pluto exactly, emphasizing that he has power issues (again, possibly stemming back to past lives). He also has the complexity of the early ’90s conjunction of Uranus and Neptune in Capricorn. Neptune conjunct his North Node in Capricorn means he may evolve his wisdom to help others in the future.
Synastry between Anderson and Busta:
There is quite a fiery relationship between the two, with Anderson’s Mars opposing Busta’s Sun, so there could be quite some rivalry. Anderson’s Chiron is sextile Busta’s Mercury, which could help Busta. Anderson’s Sun squares Busta’s Mars, so another helping of fieriness and rivalry! Things could get quite heated, or even aggressive, on court. Then Anderson’s North Node trines Busta’s Mars, bringing a karmic connection to their Inner Warriors, e.g. they may have faced each other on the battlefield or the jousting tournament in past lives. Anderson’s Pluto squares Busta’s Saturn, which is tough for both but particularly for Busta. I don’t think these two would choose to be friends on the outside – it would be a difficult relationship. But Anderson’s Jupiter trine Busta’s Pluto helps them balance their powers, for the sake of staying on court with each other!
Anderson’s transits today:
Chiron sextiles his Sun – steadying him and balancing his psyche, and bringing to the fore his Inner Healer. But Saturn is on his Uranus (which Nadal also has) bringing the possibility of an upset.
Busta’s transits today:
Uranus trines his Mars, so he could bring forth some outstanding and surprise play and athleticism. Pluto sextiles his natal Pluto, so he is empowered at this time.
So I will go for Busta on the day, as having the better set of transits. Which means I am calling a Del Potro vs Busta final. One of us may be right!

Hi Lana,
I hope you doing ok. Would like your overview on Roger’s grand slam chances in 2018; just like you have done in previous years. Some astrologers are saying he will not be the same player after 2017 Wimby due to health, motivation & so forth. Is this the beginning of the end for him?
I still feel he has a chance for 20; maybe at the 2018 Aus Open.

Dear Mike
Thanks for your enquiry. Sorry for the delay – I have been away. I am feeling fine, and hope you are too.
2018 for Roger Federer
Australian Open – 15 January 2018 to 28 January 2018
Beginning:
The beginning of the Australian Open 2018 is an interesting time for Roger. The North Node is exactly transiting his natal Sun, so his fortunes will be very much tied in with his karma. That could be favourable for him, but maybe some Astrologers have picked up and interpreted that he may have some poor health because of it. Chiron will be trine his Uranus, but I would have thought that would strengthen his health (in surprising ways, e.g. he may have had some alternative treatment which had helped).
End:
The end of the Australian Open 2018 continues to be interesting karmically, as the North Node is still on his Sun at that time. In fact, the conjunction is closer, so the most intense effects will be slightly after the tournament has passed. Jupiter will be on his Moon, which should put him in a very fine mood, quite happy in fact. This transit peaks on Saturday 27th, the day before the final. This may be close enough to see him into the final, but may at least help him reach the semi-final. Chiron will still be trine his Uranus, closer to its peak, so that again will benefit him. This aspect too will peak after the tournament, around 7th February, so there may be beneficial health developments at that time.
French Open
Beginning:
Jupiter will be square his Sun at the beginning of this tournament. Perhaps he may skip this one, feeling it to be too much of a stretch at that time. If he does go for it he will start very enthusiastically. Saturn will be square his Jupiter, which may be a stumbling block; again, he may decide it unwise to participate. Uranus will be square his Nodal Axis, so the element of the unexpected may intervene…a sprained ankle perhaps at the beginning…? Though Pluto will be sextile his Moon, giving him fighting spirit, Pluto will also be square his natal Pluto, and there may be other things going on in his life, such as the care of a relative, which he may need to make a priority. So the prospects overall for the French Open are not promising.
End:
At the end of the tournament Mars will be trine his Jupiter – he may be keenly interested in the result, though he may not be a participant. Jupiter will still be square his Sun (see above) and Saturn still square his Jupiter (see above). In addition, Saturn will be square his Saturn, some frustration (e.g. watching from afar). Uranus will still be square his Nodal Axis, disrupting his life in some way. Pluto will be exactly sextile his Moon, so it will be an intensely emotional time, possibly for his private life.
Wimbledon
Beginning:
I know Roger wouldn’t miss Wimbledon unless he had to, and would want to defend his title, so bearing that in mind, and assuming he will take part:-
Jupiter will be square his Mercury: mentally, he will be enthusiastic, though his form may be slightly off beam, exaggerated, overstretched. Jupiter will be trine his Mars, so he will have plenty of energy, enthusiasm and vitality. Saturn will still be square his natal Saturn, so there will still be some frustration, e.g. he may decide to take part but may be nursing a leg problem or something similar. Pluto will still be sextile his Moon, so he may be still dealing with an emotional or family issue.
End:
By the end of Wimbledon, Mars will be trine his Jupiter, again, keeping his energy levels buoyant. The red planet will also be trine his Saturn, so he will have more control, and it trines his Midheaven, so he will be confident and assertive. Jupiter will still be trine his Mars (see above), and Pluto will still be sextile his Moon (see above). Not a bad set of aspects, so we’ll have to see how things go and who is playing nearer that time. I hope to be on the case, as usual.
U.S. Open
Beginning:
The start of the U.S. Open brings a lovely transit for Roger, Jupiter sextile his natal Venus, but whether that is a personal celebration for his family or a charmed entrance on court, I don’t know!
End:
The end of the tournament sees Venus square Roger’s Nodal Axis, which may be a discomfort, such as losing out to a rival. This is reinforced by Mars on his South Node – he may be playing a significant rival, and the karma may just not come through for him. He may not appear at the end of this tournament.
So, to summarize, the Australian Open and Wimbledon look better than the French and U.S. Open. The French Open looks like a wash out, and he may only just get a look in at the U.S. Open, and not go very far in that competition.
A Happy Autumn Equinox to you, Mike!
Love
Lana
